Thanks for including the material on Rene Balcer. Some of it is hard to find! Is that 30-page transcript something you put together yourself, for this site? I haven't been able to download it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. You might want to double-check the count on his Edgar wins, though. I could have sworn he's won 3.

You've got a great site here. My computer can't handle some of your pages -- too graphic-heavy for its memory, but I'll explore it a bit more (and download that 30 page transcript in the Rene Balcer section) when I have access to a better computer. Keep up the good work!

Observer2 -
Thank you for your comments. I'm happy to hear that some visitors find this as interesting as I do. I transcribed a tape obtained from the CAJ for this site. I have attempted to acquire other Balcer tapes/transcripts but have been told they cannot be released due to copyright issues.

If you provide your email, I'll be glad to forward the document to you.

You are correct on the Edgars - Balcer won 3 (2000 for "Refuge", 1994 for "Bad Girl", 1993 for "Conspiracy") Thanks for the correction.

The CAJ transcript was chock full of enlightening tidbits. Thanks to Trish for taking the time to transcribe it. I know it must have been a time- consuming project.

I found it interesting to learn Balcer has a history of schizophrenia in his family. Now we know how he arrived at the main premise of Goren’s back-story.

I enjoyed his “two pyramid with points connected” theory. “Eye for story, ear for dialogue, and constructing dramatic flow”. Good advice for those who dabble in writing. I know I’ll keep his tips in mind in the future.
