El Norte (Mexican publication) 08/27/2004

Again, our thanks go to Linda and Lorena in California for their assistance in this rough translation of a recent article appearing in the Mexican publication El Norte:

Byline: Omar Cabrera

Title: A Real Man D'Onofrio Playing a Man (Gente) Wells

To promote the actor in Mexican Film about and antedote that he lived through while he was filming of the Third Man.

The actor Vincent D'Onofrio who visited Mexico, producted, directed and acted in a movie Five Minutes Mr Wells. He (Vincent D'Onofrio) is filming the history of Wells. While he was investigating Wells, he found out Wells had a relationship with the famous mexican actress Dolores Del Rio. The story is about that and how the story goes. While Vincent D'Onofrio was in Mexico he found out about the relationship. He was investigating the argument part of this relationship which happened before the movie Citizen Kane.

Vincent D'Onofrio is saying "Yes, I knew about her but did not know it was that important to the relationship during that time". He was more focused on other parts and the filming of Citizen Kane during that time.

The movie 5 Minutes, D'Onofrio assured the interviewer this movie would be well received by critics and liked by the Public. "I (Vincent D'Onofrio) started to investigate the life about Orson Wells and found out something very curious about him but I prefer to reveal this not until people see this in the film. It is something that happened to Orson Wells while filming the 3rd Man."
"I am beginning the editing and hope to be ready by the end of year."

The New Yorker came to Mexico for vacation in Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, Mexico but he took advantage to promote in conjunction with Sony Channel, the serious Law & Order. That is transmitted in Latina America on Saturdays on that same channel.

D'Onofrio, who had been an actor in JFK, Ed Wood and is going back to Los Angeles to begin the production of the 4th season of Law & Order. He says there will be changes in Law & Order 4th season. It will be more enjoyable and with more intrigue. His character will be fun and intriging at the same time. "My character Bobby Goren will continue to be firm and strong."

He defines himself as a good democrat and is the theme for the justice of the Goran Character. That is why he likes his character on Law & Order. "It requires respect and needs to be defended. In my life I try to defend again all odds. That is why I am dedicated and not compromised when it comes to justice."

Thanks for these references. Can you post a link to the original in Spanish? Or, could you post the date of the articles? Thanks. D.

Thanks for the article. Always glad to read something new, especially with the dearth of VDO news during the summer.

The dates appearing in the title of each post is the date each appeared in their respective publication (as best we can tell anyway).

As for the reference to Los Angeles in the article, we believe that the translation means he went to LA after he left Mexico. This would seem logical since his agent and publicist are both in LA.

As mentioned earlier, LOCI is filmed in New York City as are the other two L&O franchise series.

Thanks for the info. I tried going to both of the papers' websites, but to read the articles requires a subscription. I will try to see if I can get them through a library or other sources.
