LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg is set to guest-star on the NBC drama "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" in a potential recurring role.
She will play Chesley Watkins, a foster mother gone bad.
"Whoopi never gets to be the bad guy. In the world of 'Criminal Intent' she'll be the baddest," said Fred Berner, the drama's executive producer.
The character, shaped up as a criminal nemesis to Detective Mike Logan ( Chris Noth), will be introduced in an episode of "CI" slated to air in May.
Joining Goldberg in the episode will be "Law & Order" veteran S. Epatha Merkerson, who, in a crossover appearance, will reprise her character on the mothership series as Lt. Van Buren.
Goldberg most recently starred in and executive produced NBC's short-lived comedy series "Whoopi" and headlined a solo show on Broadway that aired on HBO as a special titled "Whoopi: Back to Broadway -- The 20th Anniversary." Her voice will be heard in the upcoming animated feature "Everyone's Hero" and the mockumentary "Farce of the Penguins."

I love Whoopi Goldberg. She is so funny, and now we can see how mean she might be. I'd rather see her funny, but ...
So, she'll be his "Nicole Wallace"? ;)
The words "RECURRING ROLE" would seem to imply that there will be a Season 6, and filming for Whoopie is restarting for CI. I hope this is true.....Keeping fingers crossed......
Why have the last two entries on this site mention Chris Noth and not VDO?
Just curious..
You're right smtag! Vincent is so much better!
The last two entries are LOCI-related and were kindly submitted by visitors. :o)
With the likes of Whoopi Goldberg on board, surely this is a demonstration of the kind of support / following LOCI has? Keep up the good work - and keep Goren on our screens.
