*sniff* *sniff*... Captain Deakins will be missed... Am certain that this new captain Eric Bogosian will be much better in the new season. Giving other detectives (by him) a hard time would liven the stories up. Sometimes, I like the disagreement between DA Carver and Goren. I can't wait to see what the new captain is like. Season 6, hurry up! Wish next month is SEPTEMBER! (^_^)

I like Deakins too much, but Bogosian is also a great actor, so I suppose he'll do a good job.

I've been wondering what was going on with Nona gaye as they've had the sides up for a new series regular - a replacement for ADA Carver since July 19th over at Showfax. The fact that they took her name daown says to me maybe they've found the replacement for her but why'd she wash out so fast. Was is Genevieve Bujold syndrome (Bujold was suppose to be the captain in Star Trek Voyager but lack of TV experience caused her to quit)

You know, I have to say that, though I don't have the time nor the patience to subscribe to such separatist thoughts in my life, I was kind of excited to see a black woman coming into the ADA role. Kind of like seeing S. Epatha can't-think-of-her-last-name in a leadership role on the main show. Of course now, if they recast it the same way, it could be seen as intentional and pandering by some. Damn. Ah well, I say stay the course...

I am absolutely *vibrating* with joy over Bogosian. My only wish is that he be given a bigger part compared to what Sheridan had, mainly because my gut tells me that he and Vincent would have great chemistry together.

Both are old school NYC actors, and both are so talented at bringing characters to life. Both are kind of 'underground' cult performers that have been - willingly - dragged up into the mainstream public eye. I've seen Bogosian perform his spoken word odyssies three times - he's amazing in person. Very intense, very 'there', and confrontational with the audience.

NOT that I do not believe that Wolf is capable of pissing away talent - we have every right to be skeptical. The L&O franchise has a well-deserved rep for hiring great actors, only to provide them with medicore scripts and a regular paycheck.

We can only hope that Wolf et al have learned a lesson from the success of SVU - that viewers appreciate intensity and complicated characters.

No offense towards Meloni - I adore him, my husband could pass for his twin - but that he is nominated for an Emmy and Vincent is not lies directly on the shoulders of Wolf and the LO:CI writers. With Bogosian on board, there is a HUGE potential - acting wise - let's hope that the writers don't blow it.

I'm so excited with the new casting so far (Bogosian and Nicholson). I also really hope they give VDO and EB some great scripted interaction - it would be great to see some sparks fly!

Seeing that no one knows why she chose to step down - or even if she has - I think accusing her of "washing out" is a little unfair. NBC has taken her off the casting page, but why haven't they made an announcement? So bizarre.

Jennifer, I understand from your site that Ms Gaye just suffered a loss in her family - an uncle. Sincere condolences to her.
