Law and Order: USA
Cops shows, as much as reality shows, are the emblematic television of our time.

There's something irresistible about the way that Vincent D'Onofrio, as Detective Robert Goren on Law & Order: Criminal Intent , deploys his Vulcan neck tilt to get inside and jigger with the heads of the suspects. I also like how David Caruso, CSI: Miami's forensic criminologist-in-chief, refuses to look any of his co-stars in the eye, and how Anthony LaPaglia, the sloe-eyed FBI agent on Without a Trace , takes care of his team of missing persons specialists. In fact, I enjoy most of the hundreds of shows that orient around endearingly repressed super-cops.

Great article---He compliments the acting ability of VDO and praises his performance as Bobby...I enjoyed reading it....
Great article! You go VDO!
I love when he gets the respect he deserves.
Great article really, I'm hooked on a lot of cops shows, each one of them has something special I think.
It's always nice for Vincent to get some 'good' press - it seems to happen so rarely!
If the author's premise that "right now we like super-cop Vincent D'Onofrio so much in part because we're scared that our government's broken, and we want somebody working for us who can fix it", is correct, then Vincent should run for Congress, pronto.
But he got the 'endearingly repressed' part right.
