ooo, nice colors... damn, that man is tall! had a strange fleeting thought involving object mass and gravitational pull and all that, but physics aren't a strong suit... I'm going to have to make the 3-hour drive for a nice little NYC vacation around this time next year. It's been a couple of years, actually.
Two questions, knitpickin: When and where -okay, three- and how tall are you and/or your friend?
Oh wow! He even looks more KAWAII than in Season 4 and 5, and is in great shape, too! Arigato for sharing with us! 26 more days to go until the FIRST eps of Seaon 6! (^_^)
Thank you again for your response in the letter and picture you sent, Vincent! I will treasure your picture with Kathryn Erbe as always! You are the tops!!! Keep that up!
So...how do you find out where they are taping and the times? I am headed up north in October to visit and will be close to the city. I loved to come swoone over VDO. Thanks, AS
The production office does not publish that information that we are aware of. They do post permits on the street where they will be filming several days before they arrive. The permits provide the dates and times.
Great pictures-thank you so much for sharing and it's so nice to know that Vincent would stop and take pictures with fans-he looks great-love the color shirt but he cut off all the curls-Dear Vincent, couldn't you leave it just a little bit longer.....Please.
has anyone noticed in picture 2 he is doing the belt thing as some people call it but have no idea why he does it im curious does anyone know why btw i love those pictures thanks for posting
I'm also envious of anybody who gets to meet Mr. D'onfrio in person. Does anybody have an idea what is on the tie tac he always wears? Love the colored shirts and ties but wish they would get rid of the dark dark colors. Is it just me or has he trimed down from the last episodes season 5?
So if ones travels to NYC, are there normal days during the week that they tape? Or is all of this "taping" info, a hit or miss? And I hear there they always seem to tape "court scenes" at the same place? Where is the court house, what avenue? Sorry for all the questions, you have sparked the interest of a Southerner. Thanks
vincent looks great i wish i was able to got to the location that was posted early next time I have to pay clost atten for that reason and theses to lucky ladies could be me netxt time so I to keep my eyes open and drive tothe cty leanne
he's definitely trimmed down and MrsBobby I think perhaps VDO liks those colors. I saw a picture of his sister, nepew and Mom at his apartment and the walls of his apartment are almost the same color as the shirt and tie.
Swimfish - We don't have any information regarding the upcoming production schedule or location of the courthouse(s) frequently used in filming.
In general, people either happen upon the location filming or they have the opportunity to see the permits in advance as mentioned previously.
It seems mostly that filming on location takes place on weekdays but not necessarily Monday through Friday. Each episode filming is 8 days in duration - 4 days in the studio, 4 days on location.
Should someone submit a tip to us, certainly we will post as soon as possible. Note that the permits do not specify which actor is filming at that particular time.
oooh.. oh damn, regina... that was so, so bad.. it's all pun and games 'til someone loses an eye...
Hey, water17 - I never noticed that but I'm sure entayenta could offer a reasonable hypothesis around the whole belt thing. I'm thinking something along the lines of an unconcious act of placing protection over an area of vulnerability when confronted with a strange environment and/or people without a sense of fair warning or feeling of preparation.
...either that or i could just be talking completely out of my a-
Nah... The girls he hugged were not considered lucky... Vincent is the LUCKIEST! For he has loyal fans such as us, even though he hasn't appeared in popular movies! Vincent thinks we only love him as "BOBBY GOREN", but we do really love him for WHAT he really is. That makes his heart so purer than any famous actor we know. He's so humble and innocent as a sheep! His humbleness even makes me admire him all the more! Go for broke, Vincent! We love you!
Due to illness I will never get to NY or meet Mr D'onofrio. Using a loosely quoted comment made by Goren to Eames in "ART" 10-2001 after looking at a piece of art work " I don't want to live with it- I just want to think about it.
So animaltalker, how can the rest of us see that photo of VDO's sister, nephew and mom at his apartment? As for the wardrobe: I liked the brown shirt the first half-dozen times he wore it, but jeez, can't lol afford to get him a new one? As for the tie clip, me thinks that's a necessity to keep his tie from flopping forward each time he bends over to grill a suspect. Don't know why he wears it so high now, though. (Ever notice how many times Goren buttons and unbuttons his jacket per episode?)
Commenting on shirts: White is definetly OUT! He does have a light green one that is fine. I do wonder if black is the only suit he owns and somebody should take a look at what they put Eames in. Just because she is a cop doesn't mean she has to look so darn drab. I to would like to see the pic of his apartment.
.... hmmm... I remember puking over his ghastly brown shirt when he yanked me on his lap, pinched my nose and poured antacid down my throat and I couldn't possibly clean it, so consigned it to the bin. Looks like that crafty so and so went shoppping without me... hmmmm.....
animaltalker: who's this vdo chap? Is he the guy who I think has an uncanny resemblance to my husband, the Detective... LOL ;>)
P.S. BobbyBobby, in the second pic, it looks like you're rubbing your tummy. Hope you saved some antacid for yourself; I think you need it more than me... hmmm
sep - that's realism, baby! doubt there are many NY cops who can change over their entire wardrobe in a span of 5 years. you might expect to see the same shirt more than once or twice...
Sep, you can find the picture of Vince's apartment/bathroom/toilet paper/bath towel at Elizabeth D'Onofrio's blog at: http://www.donofrioe.com/bloggy3.htm
Elizabeth and Vincent are very close, as are the rest of the D'Onofrio family. Elizabeth is a very lovely and comical woman. She shares a number of stories in her blogs about her times with Vince. Take some time and go through her archives and you will find some great stories, pictures and video clips of Vince and family members there. She has been reluctant to share some of the family photos of Vince as they have been copied and sold on ebay--which is sad that people abuse the kindness of the D'Onofrios for a buck. But, just reading her blogs is a real delight. She is one great lady! :o) Enjoy!
Lucky Girls!! I'm so jealous!! Vincent looks so incredibly handsome!! I would love to be able to catch just a few minutes of filming of LOCI one day. *a girl can dream, lol*
i went to elizabeth's blog. y'all are right. it is very interesting. great photos and articles. i find it refreshing to find a "show biz' family so close and willing to share with their fans.
Does anyone know of any locations where loci is filmed? I'm going to nyc in october and was wondering if they'd be filming then and if i could sneek a look at VDO!
Glad my posts are getting through, i had puter problems for awhile, i think it was that!!
Beer gut??, what beer gut??? do you see something i dont? Ive seen men with beer guts, ewwwwwwwww, Vincent isnt one of them!
As for "the belt thing" as you put it. Why the obsession with it?, most guys I know only adjust their belts when,
A. They have clothes too big, or are uncomfortable.
B. When they have been to the men`s room.
Aside from that, i think Vincent looks trim, taut, and terrific. Also he looks younger than his age, nice tan too. He is nicely dressed this seasaon, very spiffy colours and man about town look!
I took 'the belt thing' as a joke at first, but this is getting kind of weird. Simple answer: Everybody tends to feel a need to do something with their hands from time to time. Some people play with their watch, smooth their hair, twirl a ring, skim a charm from side to side on necklace, flick a pen; whichever. If that's his "thing" - let the man have it.
It's no wonder folks are so self-conscious in this country; we try to make each other explain everything little thing we do!
I don't see a beer gut either, Vincent goes straight down, no sign of anything like that-looks pretty good to me-I am not a brown fan-but he looks pretty smart, those girls were lucky to meet him.
I rate the "belt thing" right up there with the excitemnt over the roll of toilet paper in the photo of Elizabeth and family- who cares-"the man is human" Sorry I had to say it as the tp thing really bugged me!
What beer gut??? If our Vincent has a beer gut - which he clearly doesn't, and he's a red wine guy anyway - the rest of his gender are in BIG trouble!!! I think the belt buckle thing is just a nervous (and endearing) something he does. Lucky belt buckle :-)
>>> Sorry I had to say it as the tp thing really bugged me!
I have to wonder how much he appreciated pictures of his home on display for everyone to discuss. Seems to be out of character for him but then again, he probably doesn't know.
Fascinations with toilet paper, curiousities about belts, beer guts insults - Where are we going here? It'd be good to see the Reel blog stay away from becoming another 'Vincent D'Onofrio IMDB Message Board'-like slice of tabloid hell. It's been above that, thus far...
some comments posted here really take the cake i mean if all of us here who are posting are true fans of vincent then what is with all the negative about the toilet paper and the belt thing i think we should enjoy how vincent does the belt thing and enjoy elizabeth's picture of his toilet paper if we don't enjoy what vincent does or has then we aren't really fans are we i love it when he does the belt thing it brings out the best in him
Hi, I usually just read the posts when I come to this site but I JUST HAD TO write when I read this post. I instantly nodded when I read the comment that VDO has the softest hands because I thought the EXACT thing when I bumped into him.
He was walking out of a Starbucks when I saw him and I thought to myself that "THAT'S VDO!" His hair was long & wavy which threw me off for a moment. But I would know that face anywhere! LOL
I was just standing there and staring when he saw me and he nodded his head which I took as his acknowledging that he saw me. I'm a shy person by nature but I said to myself "if I don't go up to him and say hello I'd just kick myself later".
So I went up and told him I was a big fan of his work and of his show. He said thank you and extended his hand to shake mine. I was so excited that I just shook his hand and left without saying anything else....but with a big smile on my face.
Now I find myself looking in that Starbucks every once in awhile to see if I can get a glimpse of him again..LOL

Thanks for sharing all the VDO news and I can't wait to read more on this mesmerizing actor!
well, for the first time in my life I am eagerly awaiting a tv series season opener.
Dying to see this new Goren 'mentor' character and the dynamics between the detective and this man. 'Bobby' hasn't had anything like a mentor to bounce off of...there should be some Goren personality traits explained, evolved, or revealed.
The Eames abduction, well, I am sure it won't be 'hokey'..the CI writers keep a steady balance. But this season should be highly entertaining considering Vincent's "Goren" has a new captain, a new ada, AND the mentor to interact with.
The mentor storyline is what I'm most excited about, but I'm thinking that any further peek into Goren this is going to still be very slight, though. Vincent made the determinaton some time ago to reveal just a little at a time about him, according to one of the DVD interviews. His ideas around how to approach him may have changed a bit since, but I'm keeping my hope tempered to only wishing that whatever comes is as gratifying a look in as was the vulnerability we were allowed in Semi-Detached.
You know, what's funny is that after the whole Nona Gaye and Theresa Randle conversation, I haven't even thought of where they may go with the ADA character. Bogosian, I see him getting room to make his mark; I wonder if the same depth and/or breadth will be allowed the ADA as I would expect the captain to have a bit more of?
Thats how powerfull vincent is.The little hints he gives out in each episode about goren makes you have to listen very carefully and those people come back for more each time it is the goren and eames show. The more we make our self watch the other 11 episdoe with chris noth we are makeing vincent happy because with out reenforcements like chris there would be no goren at all.So it is important to support all 22 eposodes .This fall house fans can still tune in and not miss Ci due to the time change from 9 to 8.leanne
I saw an interview Mr D was giving about Goren and the path his character was taking as the series progressed. He said Goren would travel more towards the (dark ) schizophrenic side. I certainly hope this has been rethought. I like the intensity of his character but not to the point of letting him go to far down this path. I can not imagine going someplace and bumping into this man. I think this whole family must be down to earth and just consider themselves on the same plain as the rest of us. They seem to really appreciate that their vans find pleasure in their work.
'if' (big 'if') next season is really going to be VDO's last, I hope the schizophrenia angle is used to 'kill the Goren character off'.
Really. When characters leave a series, it's via retirement, marriage, career change, or death. Yawn. I sure don't want to see the Goren character actually 'die', but it would be both unique and potentially useful to the public to see a beloved tv character become incompacitated by a disorder completely beyond his control.
Who better to portray the slow and subtle, but tragic degeneration of a mind than D'Onofrio?
I know none of us are thinking now about saying goodby to Bobby Goren, but when it inevitably comes, I do want to see something memorable about this character's 'demise', and if it's well written, CI could lead to some important understanding about this form of mental illness. No histrionics, no melodrama, but think about it..Bobby week by week understanding he is not longer able to think clearly, reason logically...the internal conflict, and the external stress...wow, with the kind of portrayal Mr D is capable of, Goren would never 'die', and we'd all be the wiser witnessing his inescapable fate.
There better be a freaking Emmy lined up as well :)
Oh, I would LOOOOVE to see a more schizophrenic aspect play a bit more into who Goren is. Whether there is a manifestation of a total schizonphrenic break should the show be ended (or not be ended!) or just tiny schizoaffective incidents occuring now and again. If any actor could handle such a condition with sensitivity, keeping within the bounds of reality, it would be Vincent D'Onofrio.
I'm not sure that one could draw the distinction of families that are 'down to earth' being something separate from those that are actively affected by mental illness. I just learned on Wednesday that one of my classmate's(D.) mom has very active borderline personality, schizoaffective disorder (with full blown schizophrenia neither ruled in nor out at this point), and a h/o suicidal ideation, yet the family goes on as a close unit, with mom uninstitutionalized, cared for, and supported by her family, and with dad -who is unaffected by mental illness- very present in his marriage. Her mom's condition is RIGHT THERE, from what I'm told, and can be seen by those who meet her, but I wouldn't consider D., her family nor her mom as functioning somehow beyond the norm. The fact that mental illness exists is part of reality; it just plays a bigger role for some more than others.
I think it would be wonderful to see mental illness portrayed on TV as being just the part of human life that it is, breaking down the whole sense of mystery and the idea that it is something that is (or should be) 'out there' beyond the pale.
I'm not sure I've mentioned here before, but the main reason why LOCI caught my attention that fine holiday marathon weekend is Goren's uniqueness and his mom's mental illness. Now, they don't necessarily have to take the biological predisposition as a given that Goren would manifest symptoms, because that's not necessarily true; but I'd actually be pretty disappointed off if they just kind of swept his genetics under the rug and didn't go down that road, considering that they've already hinted at it as being a contributing factor to his socialization issues.
enough, enough... let me reassure you Bobby is perfectly fit, perfectly well and there is nothing wrong with his mental health... for goodness sake, even though he may not agree, he was of sane mind when he married me and no, Bobby I am not a witch and I did not cast a spell over you.
there is one particular wonderful reason for which Bobby may leave the Major Case Squad, but it's too early days to say anything yet... and as far as I'm aware schizophrenia is not a genetic condition, unlike bipolar which is... and it manifests itself at an earlier age than my dear Bobby's, so there!!!
^ Okaaaay... Only thing I'm touching there that is that schizophrenia has not been proven not to be hereditary. The exact etiology of the disorder is largely unknown, but environmental, neurologic and genetic factors have all been shown to play some role in its manifestation. According to the NIMH, "60% of the factors that give rise to schizophrenia may be related to a genetic susceptability". They seem to have an active study on the matter right now. The Institute also states that the disorder 'seldom' appears after age 45; not never.
To play devil's advocate a bit: who says that Goren isn't taking Haldol or some other form of antipsychotic as we know and love him now? ';-}
naydi: let me reassure you again, the only medication Bobby occasionally takes is Gaviscon and Avdil ... erm ... both he says he never needed until he married me ... hmmm!
ouch, go away Bobby, we're talking about you not to you.
I've just bought a copy of VDO's "The Impostor" and I haven't been able to leave it be for five minutes. I just love his Major Hathaway, but why would'nt I! This guy can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned, but then I'm madly in love with this beautiful man!!!

I feel like a little kid in anticipation.
Only for D'Onofrio...believe me! :)
The mentor storyline is what I'm most excited about, but I'm thinking that any further peek into Goren this is going to still be very slight, though. Vincent made the determinaton some time ago to reveal just a little at a time about him, according to one of the DVD interviews. His ideas around how to approach him may have changed a bit since, but I'm keeping my hope tempered to only wishing that whatever comes is as gratifying a look in as was the
vulnerability we were allowed in Semi-Detached.

Okaaaay...
To play devil's advocate a bit: who says that Goren isn't taking Haldol or some other form of antipsychotic as we know and love him now? ';-}
I really enjoy this blog. Everyone is free to express their opinions and there are so many of them. Its also very educational.
...rocks like no one's business! ;-}
naydi: let me reassure you again, the only medication Bobby occasionally takes is Gaviscon and Avdil ... erm ... both he says he never needed until he married me ... hmmm!
ouch, go away Bobby, we're talking about you not to you.

I've just bought a copy of VDO's "The Impostor" and I haven't been able to leave it be for five minutes. I just love his Major Hathaway, but why would'nt I! This guy can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned, but then I'm madly in love with this beautiful man!!!
