"Law & Order: Criminal Intent"
Starts 9/19, 9/8c, NBC
WHERE WE LEFT OFF: Captain James Deakins (Jamey Sheridan) stepped down under mounting allegations of corruption.
WHO'S IN, WHO'S OUT: With Courtney B Vance's ADA Ron Carver gone, Theresa Randle ("Bad Boys") steps up as new ADA Patricia Kent, at least for a few episodes. Also, Chris Noth is back as Det. Mike Logan. And it's goodbye Annabella Sciorra, hello Julianne Nicholson (Conviction), who joins the cast as Det. Megan Wheeler. But the most intriguing newcomer might be Eric Bogosian ("Talk Radio"), who'll play Capt. Danny Ross.
WASSUP, GOREN AND EAMES? Season 6 finds Vincent D'Onofrio's quirky Detective Robert Goren going from eccentric to existential. He's thinking, "How did I end up like this?" says exec producer Warren Leight. Helping him will be a long-lost mentor, played by John Glover. While D'Onofrio promises a "personalizing" of his alter ego this season, he says the approach will go only so far. "You're never going to see Goren with a girlfriend". As for his partner, Detective Alexandra Eames, D'Onofrio says, "Kathryn (Erbe) will be showing colors in the character we've never seen. "

Wow... You're like a main course ready to be eaten. You got me sooo excited again. Great job informing, blog owner!
Thank you for sharing, bobbyg and filmnoir5! Enjoy your weekend!
I can't possibly wait for mr. d'onofrio and miss erbe! (^_^)
"You're never going to see Goren with a girlfriend".
Gotta love it. :)
Yes, we can always trust D'Onofrio not to 'ruin' a role - and certainly not one he's labored on for six years. "Personalized" sounds great, because in VDO's hands it will be revealing of internal forces. "Existential" sounds even better. :)
Hi, keiko! You'd been kind of shy until late; hope things are well for you and your darling, sweet Yu(can't remember how to spell his name)!
I pulled this TV Guide out of my mailbox yesterday and was thrilled.(there are two snapshots of our man in the mag, too, for those interested) I'm all excited!! You know, I'm kind of gladdened by the girlfriend statement (and NOT for the reasons that the males of the group might think!). I've actually always felt that the one-off lines about dates, and this buddy and that buddy always seemed somewhat out of step with the image of a socially-inadept character. As far as the "buddies", that's more easily explained as relationships formed over time in what might have been different circumstances; but, I don't know, the talking about girlfriends and dating thing just didn't seem to fit to me.
One comment on the group of friends thing, though: Even though the use of the term 'buddies' just seems ghey in every sentence spoken by every character, it seemed even more faux coming out of Goren's mouth. But then, maybe, that's the point. Perhaps he may have just been mimicking other's social-speak to develop his own? Ah well - with that last foray into overthinking, I'll do my dot, dot, dots...and stooop tyyyyping riiight now
"You're never going to see Goren with a girlfriend".
---I love those words, too, miss firefligh---
I to like the idea of Goren never having a girl friend. That would certainly ruin the mystic of "what if" he had a female tagging after him making demands. About time Goren started to question where he is going. Kinda like where I work- no advancement in sight. Besides - where would he advance to. He's to quirky for most to make supervisor. Now a lawyer he would be very good at. BUT I AM NOT SAYING HE SHOULD LEAVE- heaven forbid that should happen to us fans. Glad they are adding some depth to Eames instead of just letting her follow our man around in amazment at his vast knowledge. This woman didn't get to the major case squad by just smiling and playing dumb.
I think season 6 sounds like it's going to be a real eye-opener. It will be interesting to see where Vincent takes his alter-ego,Detective Goren. Please
r emember not everyone lives in the States and make sure you keep us posted with development please :-)
I wish Goren had a girlfriend! I wish his girlfriend was Eames! I wish they went on a double-date with Olivia and Elliot! It'd be SOOOO cool if the new captain and Captain Van Buren were SEEEECRET LOVERS! Same with Patricia Kent and Arthur Branch! Man, wouldn't THAT be awesome?! And, so one day, Eames and Goren are sending eachother secret IMs in the office, and Goren's MOM stops by, and it's just oh-so-embarassing! And then we see Goren and Eames go home, and they get a PUPPY! And we see Goren pretend to interrogate the puppy! THAT WOULD BE SO COOL/CUTE BECAUSE EAMES WOULD LAUGH!!! And then Eames get pregnant again, right? And then Logan's like, "Are you having another baby for your sister?", and she's like, "NO! This baby is Bobby's baby! Bobby Jr.!" And then Bobby blushes!
^ Don't kill me! That was all a joke! Honestly, I like what Warren said in that article. I really like what he's done with CI so far, and I really like what I've seen from that 10-minute clip on NBC's site. I was just mocking some of the "OMG E/O!!!!!! 4 EVA!" SVU fans, heh.
Also, I LOVE when we meet one of Bobby's buddies! I'm always wondering where the hell he met them, what they do when they hang out, etc. Of course, I'm not expecting them to show us, that would be too much, but it's just funny to try and put these little pieces together. And it shows us that Bobby at least has a social life, no matter how messed up he is inside -- that would just be TOO sad if he had no friends and just hung out at the library all the time. (Sounds like me in high school... which was two-years-ago!)
Not that this means a hill of beans but Cops tend to hang with cops. Thus they have lots of "buddies" We have a total different outlook on some things and it helps if you are hanging with people who understand. Cops come in contact with all sorts of people who might not be considered socially acceptible by the general population. Sometimes really wierd bonds are made. They also have one of the highest divorce rates in the country. Police work is not condusive to lasting matrimony. Maybe Goren is so wrapped up with his "hobbies" he doesn't want to waste time seriously chasing a female who would cut into his other pursuits- whatever they might be. After all - us ladies demand time and energy.
Boy oh boy am I ready for Tuesday night and a new season! With the house central air conditioning unit croaking this morning and having to buy a new budget busting unit, I could use some good escapism! The new A/C will be installed Monday, so I can hunker down Tuesday night and let CI take me away...to a place were no central air conditioning unit worries had dare to tread. lol
Keiko, when my munchkins Bobby and I started dating, he confessed he had many girlfriends in the past, but he never brought them before his officers or friends, except to his mother, but she was against of their relationships.
I met his mother, too. We had tough times to get along, but thank heaven, we're fine now and bonded with love and respect. I was speechless when my munchkins asked my hand in marriage! He
My munchkins was so lost he couldn't even concentrate on his job because I wanted to stay away from him. Falling in love with a police officer like him is so uncomfortable for me. What if he died in a shoot-out or any kind of tragic accident? I just couldn't handle that.
Suddenly I remembered all our great memories together. He's always there for me, either rain or snow. I can't afford to lose him, either and I realized I still love him. I am his everything he wants to spend the rest of his life. It took him weeks to win me back. The most happiest memory I have is when my munchkins and I went to a dinner with Detectives Eames, Stabler and Benson. Eames is such a fun, but tough woman! You will love her!
Thank you, kind admin for letting me post a message!
Aw, I wish that Bobby Goren and Alex Eames turned out to be couples at Season 7, hehe
...and then Logan's like "*ts*, shu'up - I just asked your ass a question, daaamn!" and Eames goes, "Why'ont you shutttup??!? Sheeeee...you're the one that came over here asking me some shit that's nunovyahdamn business in the FIRST. GAH. DAMN. PLACE. Boy, don't make ME get up. It is too damn early in the morning and I am NOT in the mood, OKAY???!?!!" (Eames, under her breath ***nosy ass bastard - that's no one talks to you around here***) Goren is, of course, just rolling his eyes, embarrassed to have to act like he knows either of their ghetto assess at that point... ***
Oop - I think people are misconstruing my "buddy" comment. I'm saying that the man can have friends and know people, but who in the hell has "buddies"?!?! It's another unnatural wording complaint on my part. Don't know about you, but most people I know would be more prone to say "Yeah, there's this guy I know..." or "...some dude I met..." that type of thing. But i'ont know...i'm tired today...
***the above is quoted from the script version aimed at connecting with the deeper urban demographic
Keep us posted! Thank you for sharing it with us! Can't wait 'til Tuesday!
I think Buddies is an attempt to remind us that Goren is ex-military and comes from a blue collar neighborhood of one of the Bouroughs (I always forget if he's from Brooklyn or the Bronx). So it's like a former army buddy or "hey Buddy"
I wonder if this is a midlife crisis season in a way. Looking and saying wow, I'm doing this job I'm good at, but is there nothing else for me.
As to the dates, I can see him getting plenty of dates,he's a good looking cop, for some women that's a definite turn on. I can't see him making a relationship last beyond a few dates unless it was with a woman who was very intelligent, independent and extremely tolerant of being anything but high priority in his life.
I hope LOCI remains in 22 episodes. I don't want to see VDO in just 9 episodes! 11 is enough for him already. He's so awesome!!!
Ok, answer me this. Other than the obvious, what would Goren and a date talk about. The man is a darn near expert on everything and what he doesn't know everything about he knows at least something.
What kind of relationship would you have with his mother? The woman is institutionalized and from what he says on the show she is not always with it. Heck, she does not always know who he is. I hear the term " a buddy of mine ' all the time at work so men do have buddies- maybe its a territorial term not used all over the country. I have to look up some things I hear on LOCI because we dont have it around here. One example is "corner bodega" we have "corner stop and robs". Just my two cents worth for the day.
Hey, is Goren from Utah? How many wives does this man have anyway?
Wow - Good Lord God Almighty, messing with somebody's "buddies" is some serious shit with you people.... I am so, so, sorry - LOL!!!
oh, and, vdofangurl - HELL NO!
**dagnabit***
(yes, i know you were only kidding ;-})
cballi,
as you know that my Bobby munchkins is only ONE man-woman. Of course, I am the only one that locks in his heart forever until end of time. he'd die without me in his life.
read my message for Keiko. your question will help you there.
nice meeting you and happy weekend.
Hello, miss Naydi
Yusuke is my hubby's name. He's a real LOCI and SVU fan. Because of him, I'm hooked with mr. VDO. Thank you. And may you have great blessings in life!
Hello, BGorenWife,
LOL... Am I in a reality or did my husband put a drug on me? Nice one! I am happy for you and mr. Bobby Goren. You indeed are very LUCKY woman! You must be a very special woman which only mr. Bobby can detect.
I wonder if LOCI writers ever thought of mating mr. Goren with ms. Eames, or with any woman?
I can't wait for "In the Wee Small Hours" to be aired on weekends at USA channel.
Good night, everyone!
This is getting interesting every year! Hope to arrive home on time to catch the first epis of season 6! Go, Detectives!
~LadyFerrari~
Heres a good reason ole Bobby cant hook up with Ames and remain her partner. When partners become more than just work partners, they tend to want to look out for each other if a crisis arises. You know the male ego protecting his mate thing from all other preditors. They tend to loose their sense of priority. Yes partners take care of each other and develope close working ties (which wives can find hard to handle )but when personal non work related male/female relationships develope in an LEO environment one person can get themselves or somebody else killed real fast because they tend think with their -ah ah - you get my drift and their hearts and not their head.
I was very worried when Rene Balcer left CI-and I still wish that he was there because I will always wonder what path he had in mind for Goren and Eames-but I must say that Mr. Leight is doing a great job of impressing me, so far.
i've enjoyed how they've kept LOCI true to the title and keeping it about the 'intent' of the crime as opposed to delving too much into their personal lives in any 'soapish' manner.
this season seems like a pretty intense one and we've only seen and read teasers for the first couple of eps!!
it will be interesting to see how they further develop eames' character as well as what they have in store for goren!
as for goren and eames getting together...i agree with naydi and will chime in my Hell no! lol
You'll never see Goren & Eames as a couple as long as they're working together. The NYPD prohibits partners from dating.
These words and the way it was typed was up on the IMDB yesterday and was kindly given with a link by a poster there on the VDO Boards-it should be thanks to Libby-lee of IMDB that Filmnoir5 gave you this since SHE is the one that had it initially. wouldn't normal knowk the reel but I give vredit where credit is due and libby-lee of the IMDB should have that honour first.
there is only one true mrs bobby goren.... the author has created our fictional hero with a perfect match. go check it out...you will find her on

I always credit my sources lljudge-naturally yes BobbyG did get it from the criminal-intent us board but it came from IMDB source originally 48 before love.
Thank you, love, for so kindly bringing it our attention.
EDIT: Can omit the last paragraph, didn't notice that the other board had credited the IMDB.
In either case, the rest of my post stands, as does my opinion that the comment is just unnecessary outside of stirring up crap without knowing that we all either had or would have had the article on the same day anyway. As LL said, the Reel doesn't get credit everywhere. I'm sure it's author's have better things to do with their time then to "credit-trace" everything that people give them!
Oh, sorry Naydi, the post had already been deleted as you previous request, but a portion of your comment has been added to the original post. Thanks. :o)
Coo... but don't forget: The article's on Page 43, with a loverly photo!!
':-}
Any chance someone could upload the 'loverly photo' for us poor souls who can't see it?
