Well I'm certainly glad we're getting it in some form... but with it being on USA I feel it won't be long before the actors are out of there... very mixed feelings about this.

I want to retract part of my previous comment. I was just thinking of how many great actors are on cable TV these days (hello Tony Shaloub, Kyra Sedgwick, Holly Hunter, etc). so this might actually be a good thing.

Also... I want to say the folks at GE/NBC Uni are corporate bastards. If you read the press release at NBCUMV.com ... the part where it says this allows NBCU the most flexibility... sure it does, because when more of their tv shows fail they can move CI back if they want. They are snakes.

I really like this idea. I think USA will do everything in its power to promote CI.

You have to wonder if a Monk CI crossover could happen now. I think that would be halarious.

God, This is the best news!

CI will get much better promotion, commercials & time slots with USA. No more being pitted against other prime time shows.

Also, NBC can use CI repeats on Sundays after football, or plug it where they need to. Talk about a win win like Dick Wolf said. So they make out big time!

Hope Vincent is happy with this, Maybe he'll stick around for awhile?

Wonder who will be the showrunner?

Well CI isn't dead...yet. But that doesn't mean CI as we know it will continue.

We still have to see how salary negotiaions go with the actors. I am uncertain as to how much USA will want to pay Noth and D'Onofrio (and by the way Erbe should also get a raise in my opinion). We also have to see what happens to Leight/the showrunner position as well as the writing & creative team that basically is determined by the show runner.

Variety mentions that advertisers on USA may have to pick up higher costs with the new CI eps...I'm not sure if they'll go for that...usually ad rates on a basic cable channel are lower.

There's still a lot to be sorted out here...I am not yet ready to party.

Well that news has certainly made my day. After how many weeks of this aggrevation. That last article that Dick Wolf didn't know. Yeah right.

This news has not made my day-I have to agree with VDO vault-CI being on USA is just fine-and yes we can sight Monk as being successful on USA-but no day or time was announced for CI-what will it's competition be-even on USA you still have to worry about competition-for instance being up against American Idol-well forget it-but more importantly the announcement did not mentions cast changes for either of the Law & Orders-will Vincent be back-doesn't mention that casts will be the same or not-so no celebration for me until the cast members are verified and then when the timeslot is announced-so no champagne just yet-

howe wonderful to see that all of the law and order brand will be back again next year;however,it is not surprising to see more of the same negative rhetoric from the doomsayers who are busily typing responses with onehand, whilst looking for the washcloth with the other to wipe the egg off their faces.

VDO Vault -

I understand some of your concerns, but if you read the whole Variety article it says costs aren't going down, and that NBC will be Amortizing some of the costs itself because it will run episodes as well... therefore it will all get paid for. As for salary negotiations... that usually comes before renewal, so any involved parties have already signed their contracts.

Also - as for no date or time being announced... no networks have announced dates or times for anything. So that doesn't really concern anyone. That's why networks do upfronts.

Hopefully it's rerun within the same week, like how new episodes of House are rerun on USA the week after they are aired the first time on FOX, since NBC owns House, and sells the first-air rights to FOX. :)

Same situation here, I hope. :)

God, I hope the USA network will at least start the new loci episodes at the top of the hour instead of after the WWE five-minute slopover.
My hopes are: 1. Rene Balcar comes back to loci; and 2. (the biggie) that VDO is happy with all this.

What a HUGE relief!!!! Thanks so much for this GREAT news! I agree with Marion...Monday night's episode will be much more enjoyable to watch knowing that new Criminal Intent ep's will be on next season.

Speaking of Monday's ep...What if Roy Scheider's char. is the father to Goren's BROTHER and not Bobby's dad?! His brother and Roy have similar builds. Just another possibility to add to the Goren family dynamics.

A very very happy day !!!!!!!
Finally i can breath, after all those months of waiting.....
I believe that Vincent will come back cause CI is Goren !
If not - im out.......
but according to what is written, i really think that usa will do only good for CI !
WOW, i almost thought we'll never see the day of the 7th season !!!

Dick Wolf has said that no major cast changes will be made next season. I'm guessing Vince leaving would be a major cast change. I heard a guess that Wheeler is due in Septemberish, so maybe she will not be in the first episode or so, but depending on how they set up her exit in Renewal, that might not be an issue. Or, as SVU did and is doing, film the first one or two episodes of the next season right now. Of course, I don't have the final word, but I'm pretty confident Vince is staying.

From Los Angeles Times :
"As part of the deal, Wolf was forced to cut production costs, which he said would be accomplished through "belt-tightening," not through casting changes, as many had expected".
Not through casting changes, guys !!!

May I wish all C.I. knockers well as they leave us to give their allegiance to some other show. They must be devastated that the rest of us are thrilled to have a 7th season. Let's hope they don't feel they have to keep coming back to tell us how 'bad' it all is, in their opinion.
The 'Hollywood Reporter' quotes: There will be "no significant cast changes" on either series beyond the normal cast reshuffles associated with the "L&O" franchise, Wolf said. "None of the comfort-zone stars are being changed," he said.
Off to break out the champagne!!!

I wonder what day LOCI will air on as well as when the new season will start...some of the cable channels run differently than the standard ones with January starts or summer starts like FX does with rescue me...All in all, YIPPEE! I'm so glad it will be back and that USA will be it's home...the article is right about the character driven thing...

WHAT A RELIEF!!!!I'm just glad it's coming back and just my speculation, Vincent along with it...I wouldn't be surprised if this is Vincents last season....My first thought was the promos for show are going to be alot better than what we saw at NBC...sorry NBC but it was thumbs down in the promo dept.....
