'CI' stars returning without raises

Hollywood Reporter, 6.9.07
By Nellie Andreeva

Good intentions have prevailed in the salary dispute between the stars and producers on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

Sources said Vincent D'Onofrio, Chris Noth and Kathryn Erbe all agreed Friday to return to the series next season without a raise. Wolf Films and NBC Universal TV Studio had set a Friday 5 p.m. deadline for them to accept the offer. More

Thanks to PeachyBC & Wisteria5, BobbyG, Judy, Amy, Animaltalker, Diane, Amanda, DaveS! What a marvelous bunch you are! Thanks to all who sent the link in.

Now we still have a critical third issue to deal with...who will be the showrunner (and at a cut rate and with a new group of people to please...the execs at USA)?

The showrunner will determine the writers, the scripts and all of the other creative stuff (besides the regular cast)at CI. It won't be Balcer as he's now showrunner at the mothership (and making Waterston the DA and adding Jeremy Sisto to their cast were both smart moves...both should help).

Could we have somebody of an equal caliber for CI please? Or will that cost too much too?

If it matters to anyone besides me, my nominees for CI showrunner are David Black or Michael Chernuchin. But I think neither one will be considered much less chosen,

Thank You Vincent, Kate and Chris! You have made Some of us Very happy!!

As to the showrunner question...I hope Warren Leight will continue. He asked Vincent where he wanted to take Goren in season 6? Vincent replied...'I want season 6 to be the destruction of Goren'. Mr. Leight and the writers delivered that heartbreak beautifully! I want him to have the chance to 'Bring Bobby Back' in season 7.

Trcyk63 said, I'm so glad that Vincent Kathryn and chris accepted the offer, but on the other hand i still believe that they do deserve a raise for the hard work that they do for the show. They have accepted the offer but they are disappointed i would be too if it was me. For the show to really do good this next season and prove that it still has steam and can get good ratings then they need to come up with a good showrunner a good story writer and good producers that can keep this show running strong. There needs to be more action more stories about goren and eames personal life and just more eye popping eppy's that keep people on the egde of there seats in my opinion, for it to survive so that possibly they could get a raise yet this season.

What wonderful news! Thank you to Vincent, Kate & Chris for being so gracious.

IMO, they'll keep Warren Leight as showrunner, since he did such a wonderful job on Endgame. He's also probably the most affordable right now.

Just for ONE day, can we not worry about anything C.I related and celebrate the fact the A Team - and (I can hardly believe I'm saying this!) Chris Noth will be back.
Hats off to Messrs D'Onofrio, Erbe, and Noth for having the class and dedication to the show to take on the job without a raise. It's still 'Criminal' that they've been forced into this, but I live in hope they have a nice deal that will give them a chunk of the enormous sums C.I. will make in syndication ;0)
As Vincent once said, this is his kids college fund, so I hope large amounts eventually flow your way baby.
Oh and admin, you always give us so much, it was a pleasure to send you the link (along with my fellow devotees). Keep up the great work!

All I can say is, Vincent, Kate, and Chris, thank you for being the ones who displayed the integrity and courage that is sorely lacking from the NBC exec's and Wolf. I appreciate the sacrifice you made and pray it will return to you a million times over. You are the BEST! Love you dearly, Vincent.

While I admire the talent of Vincent and Kathryn, how much money do these celebrities need to make?

Think of all the hardworking people who are able to put their kids thru school on salaries not even close to six figures an episode.

Sorry if my opinion offends some of you.

Roberta, it's the way of the current world though, and I'd rather it go to Erbe and VDO and the crew rather than those that tried their damned hardest to run it into the ground and don't care about the show.

Trust me, teachers are the ones that gave doctors and actors (some of them) the knowledge to proceed into the world, yet they make little to no money. We don't pay those that support society; we pay those that entertain(*cough* paris hilton *cough*).

Either way, it's back-Yay!

I am willing to make a
great personal sacrifice
to help the show's poor
financial situation

I will happily be Vincent's
personal dresser for
absolutely nothing.

Somebody has just pointed
out to me that I'm supposed
to put the clothes o-n him....
aaaaaah!

Still, it's not an offer to
be sneezed at, I assure you.

Of course, it could have been
the telephone conversation I
had with Vincent when I told
him he owed me for not being
my *simcha buddy* ...

he was so sweet and asked
what I would like. I could
have asked for something
for myself personally,
something I would really
really like, but I thought
of everybody else and asked
if he would be so kind
as to renew his contract

he heartily agreed

Humour aside...
bless them all and I do hope
they are all as happy with
their decision as we are

I hope Vincent and the other actors read these comments because I want to give a HUGE thank you to the great cast of this show for returning without your raises! You definately do deserve them for working so hard, especially after six years of dedication, so hopefully by your fans being very diligent in watching you in the next year, you will all have your raises again next year! Keep up the wonderful acting and THANKS again!

In my dreams, due to budget contraints, they film at my house for FREE, and stay over. Vincent (naturally) has to share a bed with me....Hey, it is MY dream ;0)
