CBS announces 'Jericho's' return and NBC shakes up 'L&O' franchise
by Maureen Ryan

Excerpted ~

“Law & Order: Criminal Intent” left NBC and migrated to the USA Network a few months ago, but the strike by the Writers Guild of America, which began Nov. 5, has left NBC and other networks in need of fresh scripted programming. So “Criminal Intent” will return to NBC Jan. 9. Full article.

Note: NBC will replace BIONIC WOMAN and LIFE with LAW AND ORDER
on January 2 starting at 9PM EST,
then by repeats of LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT starting on January 9 at 9PM EST.

Yes,,that is true. It will be good for them to go ''home''.

I just hope NBC will be extra special supportive of CI now that they know they made a BOO BOO by letting them go in the first place.

As long as I can watch my Vinnie...I am happy!!!

Thanks for the posT!

Not to mention that NBC is in HD, so we can check out VDO in real detail!
I still love that USA will keep running their all new originals of CI!!

this is not a goodbye to USA adiville. When NBC sold the show to USA, USA got the rights to the first run episodes under the condition that NBC would air them later on, on an as need be basis. Now NBC needs the episodes, so it will be re-airing them. The re-airing of the eps will help pick up some of the high costs that USA has incurred by taking on the show.

I hope this doesnt mean that NBC are taking it back.

so does mean they will be re-airing the CI eps that have aired this fall on USA or that 'new' CI will be on NBC? Is this just until the strikes over?

I don't think this means CI is leaving USA, Adiville and Bunnie. It means that NBC will begin airing the episodes that have already aired on USA, in time slots that were previously filled with original programs that are now out of new episodes. This was the original deal between USA and NBC when USA got the series last spring. NBC just never bothered to place the show on its schedule. They're only now starting to take advantage of it with the writers' strike.

In January, NBC will begin airing the never before seen episodes of the original Law & Order and network premieres of Criminal Intent, while other networks are scrambling for scripted material. Good move since it cuts down on the amount of reality programming they'll need to air on NBC.

I'm confused. What does this mean? Is LOCI leaving USA for now, and will the LOCI episodes be first-run, or repeats?

No wonder I woke up in the middle of the night (or early early morning, depending on how you look at it) feeling out of sorts. It's as if I knew there was bad news in the air. Am I the only one who is a little bit upset about this? CI is doing really well where it is and USA is giving it far better treatment than NBC ever did, promotion wise. They earned and *deserve* those ratings. And while I should just be happy I get to watch Vince and Katie--I don't want any of these big shots shuffling my fav show around and gambling with its future just to fill some Bionic hole. Damn this strike! Why can't the network executives just give the writers what they deserve already? At this point I'd like to start a "Keep CI on USA petition", but then again I'm probably the only one who's even pissed. Anyone else with me? Anyone? *eyes room meekly*

Okay. Looks like somebody needs a double dosage of coffee and yoga. I'll see myself out.

CI is not leaving USA!! It was always the deal that NBC would run repeats of the season 7 new episodes after they ran on USA. This is not new. NBC planned to run these repeat episodes before the strike even happened.
Why are people twisting this into something that it isn't?

back with coffee and calmed. when i was last here linda's clarification hadn't been posted yet. reruns are fine by me. what sounded daunting initially was the arrangement of new episodes on wednesday nights via nbc precluding the 'original' premieres on usa. which i'm hoping wouldn't happen in the long run. these days thursday is really the only good tv night for me. i think that's why season 7 is so kismet.

I'm happy too for those without cable, but I hope this sticks in the throat of those at NBC who were determined to cancel C.I! Kudos once again to USA, who have given it the love and respect it so richly deserves.
