Letter From the Presidents - State of Negotiations
This was sent today by WGA Presidents Patric Verrone and Michael Winship to membership:
To Our Fellow Members,
While fully mindful of the continuing media blackout, we write you to address the rumors and reports that undoubtedly you have been hearing.
The facts: we are still in talks and do not yet have a contract. When and if a tentative agreement is reached, the first thing we will do is alert our membership with an e-mail message. Until then, please disregard rumors about either the existence of an agreement or its terms.
Until we have reached an agreement with the AMPTP, it is essential that we continue to show our resolve, solidarity, and strength.
Picketing will resume on Monday. Our leverage at the bargaining table is directly affected by your commitment to our cause. Please continue to show your support on the line. We are all in this together.
Best,
Patric M. Verrone
President, WGAW
Thanks to Marianne C.

Great idea to send that letter to WGA members. I'm sure the AMPTP was hoping these rumors would stop the picketing.
Still doesn't mean that a deal couldn't happen soon. I'm still hopeful that we'll get a few new CI episodes this season.
There's a big Superbowl parade this Tuesday in NYC. Maybe VDO & Elias will go?
Like they say, it's not over until the fat lady sings....and she may not yet have even reached the podium!
Let's keep hoping there's some common sense and a resolution; soon.
Oh, the intricate deceits of the ruling classes.
First of all, there is indeed a parade planned for Tuesday for the New York Giants, the Superbowl champs-some controversy about this because in the states is Super Tuesday as far as the Presidential primaries go-many states involved and New York happens to be one of them-so they are concerned about what effect the parade will have on turnout for the primaries-
Second of all, I am losing hope that we will have any more new episodes of CI this season-even if they signed a deal this week, how long would it take to get everything in motion again-
Sad because they had such great momentum going with the USA network-
But sadder because so many people have been out of work for so long and it's definitely way past the time to make a deal-
And then what's going to happen in June when the actors contract is up-
Sorry I have a toothache and maybe that's why I am so pessimistic-
Regi.
First of all, Verrone is just a big buzzkill. Stop with the rhetoric already and get everyone back to work!
Secondly, just because there was a strike doesn't mean writers weren't writing. I think you'll be surprised at how many successful shows get right back to business. The networks, bless their hearts, used this force majeure to do a lot of house cleaning. Shows like "Monk" and "LOCI" seem to give NBC a lot of mileage, so you'd think they'd be anxious to complete the second half of the season as quickly as possible.
If I were you guys, I'd be much more worried about SAG going on strike in June. The bond companies aren't guaranteeing any movies past then.
Okay, I'm confused. I heard there was supposed to be one more episode left for this season, but all we're getting is reruns. Anyone know anything?
There is one episode (titled "Please Note..") left but NBC has not yet scheduled it.
....and I can't see USA airing just ONE new episode, so if this thing isn't settled, and soon, I have a horrible feeling we're going to be in for a long, LONG wait for new LOCI *bottom lip trembles pitifully*
