New film this summer

SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT: "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" star Vincent D'Onofrio is getting ready to direct a yet-untitled Western movie this summer -- and "Medium" actor Jake Weber is happy to report he's signed on to the project. "It's a fantastic script and a fantastic part -- a very tough Texan who comes in to help the sheriff with the growth of this town when the railroad goes through it. That's what I always did before 'Medium,' played heavies -- a lot of bad guys -- so it's kind of nice to get back to something with a little bite." Referring to his "Medium" role as the husband of Patricia Aquette's psychically endowed crime solver, he adds, "Not that Joe DuBois isn't fun to play. I like him. He's a kind soul."

Thanks Meljf!!

Ah, the murderous Karl Atwood in "One" from LOCI Season 1. I love how actors from VDO's past projects -- film and TV -- keep returning again and again to work with him.

I hope this doesn't hinder VDO's filming of season 8 CI episodes this summer. As the Director of a film, he must be on set every day, all day. Long hours.

Someone assure me that this doesn't imply that there isn't going to be a CI season 8. I couldn't bear that!

On a happy note, finally we are getting this western. What role might Vincent play? The Sheriff? Or is he not acting in the film?

Well, let's hope he's scting as well as directing. Can't see him back through the camera!

He made 2 movies last summer, didn't he? Let's hope that means he can manage LOCI as well as a film. I've already got withdrawal symptoms because of the writers' strike!

My theory - based on, well, my theory! - is that Vincent should be back filming C.I. around the first week in April. If USA commission a full set of episodes to complete Season 7, Vincent has 5 left to shoot, which, barring any breaks, or god forbid, an Actors strike, would take him until around mid-August. Still summer, time for him to do his movie - although he may want some time vacation time! Since USA will not be showing new C.I. until June, maybe Season 8 won't start shooting until autumn. As far as I've seen anywhere, there's absolutely nothing to suggest we won't get an 8th season. C.I. was NOT named as one of those on the bubble this year, and happily USA LOVE and respect it.

As for the long awaited western, it sounds like he's just planning to direct this one....Darn, I wanted to see him in one of those sexy long coats and cowboy hats ;0)

Yes I agree-I hope that Vincent is acting as well as directing especially if this is the long-awaited Mac Dog script-but then again that's a lot of work for him-he'll make the right decision, I'm sure-
Good thoughts for the film-

According to The Hollywood Reporter. Law and Order will return for a 19th season. USA network's L&O Criminal Intent which is repurposed on NBC is likely to return...

Sounds good to me :)

Sorry, I was here, tired and late last night, and got my 2 theories (1 Vincent, 1 USA Channel) beautifully entwined!

In a nutshell -

Vincent: 5 (episodes) x 8 (shooting days) = 40 days working for him, but they get 8-10 off in between, so we can at least double that, which would take him until sometime around the beginning of June.

USA resume showing C.I. on 8th June (Oh happy day!), assuming 11 episodes, that means the season finale would be 17th August.

Somehow, I can't see that they would then start showing Season 8 in October, so they probably wouldn't start filming for that any time soon after they'd finished Season 7, which would give Vincent the summer to shoot his movie, and take some vacation time with his family.

I'd still like to see him in his western tho' ;0)

I thought I had read a long time ago, that Vincent's contract was for 7 years. But, I also read a recent quote from him that he wasn't going anywhere soon.

Is it possible that season 7 is the end?
