Thanks to the Sleuth channel for running this great show-we don't get the Sleuth channel on our cable system but I have Vincent's episode on tape and please don't miss it-outstanding performances by both Vincent and Andre Braugher-
Unfortunately have never seen Kate's episode-
But loved the whole series of Homicide-
Regi.
My cable provider (Cablevision on Long Island) does not offer Sleuth. Wish they did. I am watching Homicide via Netflix (up to Season 4).
I own Season 6 which contains both VDO & Erbe episodes. Both give heartbreaking performances.
Dear donnajo-
I live in Connecticut and have Cablevision also-where do you live-
In fact, I worked for Cablevision for eight years ago-as employees we had Bethpage Federal Credit Union as a lending institution, as Cablevision didn't have it's own at the time-
Regi.
Nope, I still cannot bring myself to watch "Subway" - even if I did have the cable channel you mention.
I wonder if Vincent would believe me if I ever told him I consider him to be "too good" an actor sometimes.
I'm with Lozzie - I shipped the whole Season 6 box set of 'Homicide' from the US to the UK, but was so traumatised by 'The Subway', I've never been able to watch it since.... Shameful Vincent didn't get at least an Emmy for his performance in it.
Regi,
I live in suffolk county, brookhaven township. For some reason, cablevision here doesn't have Sleuth. my hubby also worked for cablevision, at it's main headquarters on Long Island a few years back, but was a victim of the big layoff. We also had Bethpage Federal Credit Union through Cablevision, and we got unlimited free cable as a employee perk. Did you in Connecticut?
lozzie,
You should really try & watch The Subway. Its no worst emotionally than watching VDO crying on the slab. Its such a tremendous performance, you would love it.
The Subway episode is tremendously moving and so well acted that yes, it seems real-but it is a performance and one well worth watching, crying over and remembering forever-
And yes donnajo, we did get free cable, all channels, on three sets, Oh the good days-I left because they moved the sales department from Bridgeport to Norwalk and back and forth everyday in the standing still traffic of I-95 until one morning we were dead stopped and I fell asleep at the wheel and just bumped the car ahead of me-that was enough commuting for me-
Regi.
The episodes are outstanding and memorable. I now have them on DVD. Yes, they are BOTH emotionally exhausting, but worth revisiting now and again, because the performances are just stellar. If you haven't seen them, you gotta watch! And if you haven't seen Erbe's eppy, please do! She made me tear up as much as Vincent in Subway. I think Erbe's performance, as well as Vincent's, was certainly Emmy worthy. HLOTS had some of the best television writers ever.
DonnaJo - thanks ... but I didn't sleep properly for three nights after watching "Untethered". I'm pathetic, I know.
(In fact, Goren and I are attending group therapy sessions to try and overcome it all ;) :-D )
Snark - I did see what Kathryn Erbe did on HLOTS and was so impressed with what she did. That woman's acting ability is vastly underrated. I hope she gets even more to do in the latter half of Season Seven.
lozzie,
For me, the love is for Goren first, and VDO second. I couldn't sleep either after the slab & the suspension, because I adore Goren so much. Thank God for message boards!
In Subway, its VDO true, but a character I'm not emotionally invested in. So for me, it was heartbreaking, but didn't stay with me the same way.
So if you are like me, you can handle the Subway episode.
Does any of this make sense?
Yes, DonnaJo - I had your post translated for me by an encryption specialist ;-) :-D.
But I think with me it is Vincent first and all his characters ... um, also first. Perhaps I have a problem separating him from his characterisations? Oooh, that's a bit scary, actually ~wibble~.
