Trailer -"It don't Pay To Be An Honest Citizen"

Sent in by Jane-Emily. Thank you!

On Youtube by Jacob297 - the trailer for the 1984 film featuring a 25-year-old Vincent D'Onofrio. Caution: Strong language

=========================================

From Gothamist.com, April 30.2007
the Two Boots Pioneer Theater in the East Village will be screening It Don't Pay To Be an Honest Citizen! on Tuesday at 7 p.m. followed by a beer and pizza reception.

Interview with "Honest" director Jacob Burckhardt

- excerpted -
"An unknown (at the time) actor named Vincent D’Onofrio was a bartender at the Ritz, a club that has since turned into Webster Hall, and somebody I knew who worked there put us together and he tried out for the lead part. He wasn’t right for it--too big and tough looking--but he was a good actor so I asked him to play one of the muggers." Full article

Sadly, the movie is almost unwatchable, but hey, everyone starts somewhere!

It's so hammy! The guy trying out a cockney accent could compete with Dick Van Dyke!

Vincent has a few moments where he shows some talent, of course - even something so grim couldn't hide ALL his light under a bushel.

I purchased this movie several years ago and have watched only once. The quality isn't very good, and there isn't enough VDO to satisfy a fan. Isn't this the movie he made while a student at NYU?

He,like Robert Downey Jr.,was pretty in his youth. However both men have grown into handsome men who are comfortable in their skin, thus they are smoldering hot in their older age!

Thanks for the baby-faced look at a young VDO though!

Could you put a warning for bad language on please? I had to go leaping for my speakers before my kids tuned in LOL

Looks truly truly truly utterly ghastly and I simply cannot wait to see it.

I'd love to know what Vincent would think if he were to stumble across this.

Are those all of Vincent's scenes? He looks so young, even younger than 25.

Fun to watch. Thanks for the link.

The movie looks like it would give me "the heebie jeebies"! But Vincent looked great. Thanks for the peek!

1. Vincent was hot then as now. (I would have thought so anyway in 1984!)

2. With the mannerisms, I just keep seeing a young "Goren."

3. This looks like a really poor film, but what the hey, everyone starts somewhere!

I am surprised to have never seen this movie listed in any of VDO's filmographies.
