TV networks brace for potential actors strike

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) 6.19.08
- As Hollywood recovers from a tumultuous writers walkout that ended in February, U.S. television networks are bracing for a possible actors strike that could delay the upcoming fall TV season.

Jitters over renewed labor unrest have mounted in recent days as contract talks between the Screen Actors Guild and the major film and TV studios have grown increasingly rancorous with little or no sign that a settlement is near.

The three-year labor pact covering film and prime-time TV work for 120,000 SAG members is due to expire in two weeks.

no offense to all u loci fans but....

the good news is that vincent has other projects that will keep him busy, make him money and bring him more time to direct and produce and act in real films which is where his kind of talent belongs. he's a great bobby but his skills are far above being limited to tv.

i want to know when the shooting for this season will be over so can work on his western

i mentioned in another blog that the DVO destination utah caravan is getting bigger and we are all waiting to hear when he will be at rib city so we can do the road trip and support him in both of his new ventures..restaurant and directing movies. a friend of of ours is even coming from cali to take the trip with us from reno

we check the reel several times a day looking for news so we can get the days off and take the trip.

i feel bad for those of them who rely on their tv careers, but vinny has nothing to worry about. im sure he loves doing the show but i have a feeling after season 8 he is going to fly, he is going to kick some butt in the film industry. just u wait and see...

im his muse....i can feel it coming

No, this doesn't sound good.

BTW...phillipo. If there is an actors strike, it applies to All actors (not just television actors) Vincent won't be able to make his Western....All the actors will be on strike!

Noooooooooo, don't say that!
the show must go on!!

ok, so my heart goes out to all involved
let us all pray to our godesses that this strike does not happen.

atleast he has his restaurant investment.

i wonder if he has friends who are willing to work despite the strike, ya know, as a favor to him.
he's such a sweet guy, i know me and my friends would take a break from our jobs to be extras in the film for rib dinners and an autograph

lol

phillipo-it's not a matter of whether his friends would do it for him, it's a Union thing, and Mr. D would lose standing, influence, friends, and eventually, work if he didn't honor the strike.

Patience is a virtue VDO supporters and fans have in spades...

No one would work during the actor's strike. They couldn't, so let's just hope it doesn't happen...and there's no guarantee whatsoever that Vincent will show up at Rib City. He may be part-owner but it's his sister who runs it. Vincent has a young family, if the western doesn't make it into production because of a strike, maybe he'd like some time off and enjoy a vacation instead.

As to what happens after Season 8, we'll just have to wait and see.

okay, okay

gosh, thanks for the pin in my bubble. thank u for shattering our hopes and dreams, now all hope is lost and we are going into manic depression. there r tears and sadness all over the house....

yes i am being a drama queen.

but...i honestly hope things work out for all. i'm sure he'd love time with his family and he deserves it, for sure

of course we were all lookimg forward to the possibility of getting to meet him. but what ever will be, will be. perhaps another opportunity will come along. who knows maybe we'll end up in new york after all. i think the thought of a big road trip was the main motivation here. you know.. a bunch of friends with a common goal

having fun on the road

so
we send our love and prayer to all of those who are involved.we hope every one gets what they want. they work hard and deserved to be respected for all their hard work.

thanks for your thoughts and info ladies

Dear phillipo-
Don't despair yet until we see what happens-
But Vincent, as an actor, is a member of the union and therefore I believe he would support a strike if called for, so he wouldn't direct or act during a strike-
But maybe we can hope that they won't strike-
Regi.
