I'd like the 'Talent Available' called Vincent D'Onofrio - please ;0)
Exactly, Diane.....!!!
On September 8 & 9, Toronto'll be the most "talentful" city, in the world....
What a rotten time for Zoom Airlines to go bust!
I would love to be in to Toronto in September, but sadly can't afford the airfare from England.
However, when Vincent does another play then the credit card will have to take a beating so I can be there.
I am already in withdrawal, is it November yet.
Sometimes I wish that I owned my own private jet and could just go to these screenings on a whim. Perhaps we fellow posters should make an investment? Who wants to go halfsies on a jet?
I almost forgot that the film was set in Bay Ridge (where I lived this past year) and that VDO was born in Bensonhurst (18th and 65th--my boyfriend lives on 19th and 72nd). It's a muuuuch different area from what I'm sure VDO knew as a child, but it's still crazy to think that his old hood was just a few blocks away :-p Reading the synopsis makes me miss Brooklyn soooo badddd...
wow VDO and eddie cahill??? those are two excellent reasons to see this movie!!!!!!!! cant wait.
Vincent D'Onofrio - Vinny Man-I-adoro!
I would like some insider knowledge about the film industry, and how British and European fans could make it so that more of Vincent's work could be easily accessible over here.
And ... er, and Vincent himself as well, of course.
Perhaps I should found the "Bournemouth and Poole Film Festiva"l, get some funding, buy a print of The Narrows, and Staten Island, AND Five Minutes Mr Welles, and and and .. and have a grand screening followed by an exhaustive Q & A session with Mr. D'Onofrio. All in my front room.
Lozzie, I'm from Scarborough, but I can't think of a better reason to travel the full length of the country than to attend the Bournemouth and Poole Film Festival in your living room. I'd bring chocolate bickies - Joy
Thank you for all the wonderful information on The Narrows-
I bought the book and read it the minute I found out that Vincent would be in it-it's a great story-
So glad it is being shown in Toronto and that Vincent will be there to promote it-I hope it does well and I can't wait to see it-
Regi.
Lozzie, I'll make the tea and volunteer to be Vincent's (very) personal assistant for the duration of his trip ;0)
we're still hoping and praying for him to show up in utah.
anyone know whats going on with the actors strike?
i read about the "sighting" @ disney world in florida. it's good he got some family time in, but i do wonder if he'll get a chance to do this project with season 8 airing in november.. this western seems to be pretty close to his heart
lets hope...
phillipo
So...does this mean if I go downtown on the 8th & 9th I stand a chance of seeing him IN PERSON?
Seriously?
I'm in Toronto, btw.
To Phillipo:
Here's a link to the latest news on the actors' strike (August 31th):
http://www.buzztracker.com/category/hollywood_actors_strike
As much as I truely envy all of the people of Utah, for having the slightest chance of ever meeting Mr. DÓnofrio, I seriousely doubt, that the project would go any further than pre-production, this year -at the most. Unless, Vincent plans on filming in the winter...
But no matter what, I really wish that he'd make it; mostly because -as you said- it's something close to his heart... and partly because I'm longing, for his mesmerising performances, on the big screen...
(Did I ever mention, that I'm such a selfish fan...??)
And please, if you ever happen to meet our favourite guy, nod in respect, twice -the second one, from me.
Many thanks;
Saghy
Drowsey Monkey,
The press letter released by the PR firm handling the film lists him as available for interviews on Sept 8 and 9th.
*SQUEE!* I can't wait!
I'm going to be downtown for the whole festival, I'll do my best to get some pictures of Vincent to share with you all here.
Thanks Sevs_girl72! We all look forward to it.
Everyone going -Have a great time!

Drowsey Monkey,
Since there is no "Red Carpet" associated with the premiere of "The Narrows" I guess we will all have to use our detective skills and try to locate Vincent while he is in town.
NL Fan -just follow the drool trail. You'll find him soon enough. :-D
Guess what? There is a Bournemouth and Poole Film Society, and they hold little film festivals. There is also the Purbeck Film Festival.
I'm going to investigate further. I'm fed up with dreaming about meeting Vincent, or at least seeing him. I'd like to try and DO something to make it happen.
Lozzie,
I know what you mean. I figure this trip to Toronto is perhaps my one and only chance to make the dream come true. Too bad there is no "Red Carpet" event for "The Narrows" because then I could be reasonably sure of at least seeing him in person. However, I'm going to do my best to track him down. I hope I don't get arrested for stalking!!!(lol)
Thanks for all the links and info guys
saghy2, you just sent my parnter out of the room in tears. he is quite the drama queen,
and my other roommate just cursed
if you've ever seen bird
cage.....lol
btw-saghy2 we live in Navada. we were planning to do a road trip to utah when we heard he was shooting the film this summer and might be hanging out with his sis.
on the bright side,
Vincent is co-owner of rib city and might just show up to hang out with customers and family or do some talent scouting for the movie
he did once say he wouldnt cook but he may do a little curb side service,
who knows..
his visit may not be movie
related at all.
and for those of u who may see him in toronto...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
deep breath....
composure....
have fun.
phillipo and friends
Since this film takes place in Brooklyn, I was hoping that it would have been included at this summer's Tribeca Film Festival in Manhattan (right by VDO's home), but sadly, it was not.
Politics, my friends.
Thank you Toronto, for appreciating this film and adding it to your agenda.
NLFan,
For what it's worth, a few places that you might consider checking out -
At the Intercontinental Toronto Centre Hotel there will be an event for the celebrity attendees of the TIFF.
-----------
CTV - CTV has celebrity events planned all week at their headquarters at 299 Queen Street West, Toronto
------------
- InterContinental Hotel 220 Bloor Street West, Toronto is where the industry people and many celebrities will be staying so you might check for events there.
Hope you have some luck!
Thanks "reel" for your good wishes and very helpful information. I'll definitely check out the locations you suggested. I wish I could clone myself so that I could maintain surveilance everywhere at the same time.(lol) Any additional tips and/or suggestions from anyone that might increase the chances for success of my mission would be greatly appreciated.
Counting down the hours!!! Thanks again "reel".
Phillipo and friends;
Oh, my goodness.....
I certainly wouldn't mean to cause any tears...........Unless it was absoutly necessary.
Wouldn't mean to cause anyone to curse either; unless it was absolutly necessary.
I don't know....it's either I'm a professional drama-raiser, who can bring out perplexing emotions in other people, or the saying we have in our language, roughly meaning: "what comes form a heart, goes to a heart".
If it's any comfort, now I'll have to envy all of the people of Nevada, too....!!!
On the other hand, I deeply wish that you meet Vincent -very, very soon....
It'd really make me happy, if any of this blog's commentors -and of course, it's dear administrator- get the chance to meet our favourite guy -including myself...!!
And nlfan;
Really wish you make it...And if you do, please don't forget, to nod in respect, from me...
Saghy
NLfan,
If you want to to join forces, I'm going to be keeping a look out at CTV, Dundas square, and the International. I'm determine to find him, so if you want to set up a phone tag system or something, I'll gladly join you.
~Christi
Sevs Girl72,
Sounds like a plan. Thanks. How can we exchange phone numbers? I don't particularly want to post my e-mail address on here. I am a member of the USA Message Board as NLfann (note 2 n's instead of one. A recent upgrade there locked me out of NLfan) which has a Private Message feature. We can exchange phone numbers that way. If not, do you have any ideas?
saghy2
oh sweetie, dont take it personally,
we were just messing around
like i said my partner is just a drama queen and the tears werent real. we read your comment about your doubts,he just did one of his flamboyant "oh mother of the cosmos, why would they say that?!" then screeched and sulked out of the room
he does this slow death to regormortis scene any time he misses a film my denzel,
we never take him seriously
and my room mate is not a real potty mouth so the bad word took me by surprise.
we all want to meet him but i think we were more looking forward to just going on the road with friends and making a day (or two) of it. vincent was just the magnet for the destinaiton. close enuff to drive, far enuff to feel like a real vacations, we all work in casinos and need a break,ya know?
you seem to know alot about the film undustry, i dont even know what pre-production is. and when they cast for movies, how does one find out.
does any one know what time and where the interview in toranto will take place? i have a friend in canada who would show up with a camera and microphone just to get a shot of him waving to us. that would be fantastic!
is some one going to give us place and time, like they did for the Taff. will there be a vip tent to loiter in front of?
please let us know.
phillipo and friends(who now have composure)
smooches to saghy2-if u r a girl
and a friendly wave if you're not
(dont want to offend any one)
Phillipo,
If the dear admins here get wind of a scheduled interview and the time and date, we'll be sure to post it.
nlfan,
I just sent you a pm on the usa board. my username is the same as it is here.
~Christi^^
Phillipo and Friends (who now have composure);
Oh my goodness...
DON'T WORRY; I was just messin' around, too...
Not the part about wishing you all meeting Vincent very soon, of course -whether he's the "end", or just the "mean", to another "end".
I remembered What Vincent had once said: "It's pretty simple, pretty obvious: that people's first impressions of people are really a big mistake."
Well, even if he's just a magnet, he's a pretty good one....!!
Anyway, hope y'all have fun, in what's left of the summer. Your line of work sounds quite interesting to m, but I know that the grass is awaya greener on the other side...
And pre-production includes all the steps you -actually, Vincent, for that matter- would have to take, before "Light, sound, camera, action" -choosing the script, the investor, the crew, the locations, all the legal stuff...and you bet - casting.
As far as I know, most of the leading and supporting actors, are found via the agencies, and there are sometimes ads for auditions...
Some of the "avantgarde" directors, look for the raw, intact talent in non-actors; and sometimes they post ads, specially for locals; on the other hand, some preffer actors with academic skills and/or experience....
There are exceptions, too: David Boreanaz (Angle, Bones) was discovered, while walking his dog....LOL
Guess for now, you should make it your mission to track down our favourite guy...
And last, but not least, hum.... Thought it was pretty obvious whether I was a girl, or a guy..........!! Just tell me that you call guys "sweetie" too, and I'll know that there's no discrimination on your part....!!
Sorry, I don't want to offend anyone either; but as Vincent had said, first impressions ARE really a big mistake; and I'd preffer a friendly wave, by the way... Thnx.
Saghy
saghy2
its hard to tell gender from simple letters and numbers
though there r women named sam or reggie and guys named dana or rene
you'd be surprised the looks we get from such a harmless word.
but we are all human none-the-less
no discriminaiton here...sweetie.
so..if i see an ad for extras in his movie i could turn out to be a water boy or customer in the general store??!!!
fabulous
definately something to look forward to.
oh, we love what we do, it's fun and exciting. never a dull moment after a guest has one too many martinis. lol
wonder if vince would ever come to reno, oh that's right, vagas would probably be a little more interesting.
thank you for your kind words and all the info saghy2 (yin or yang)
TATA
phillipo and friends
Phillipo and friends;
You're welcome.
Yin & Yang are both cruitial, to maintain the balance of this world -as well as the balance of this blog...!!
Doesn't really matter if they're a Yin or a Yang, so long as they're doing the right thing.
Good luck, and have fun !!
Saghy
Thanks for all of the wonderful information on The Narrows.
