Email from NBCUMV

Enaka has emailed NBCUMV regarding the change in CI schedule and has received a reply that she'd like to share. Thank you :o)

"I am very happy to share with you the email of one of the publicists from NBCumv

Enaka: "To whom it may concern,I would like to seek an information about the show “Law and Order Criminal Intent” is truly been pushed to the year 2009? If it’s true, may I ask the reason of its delay? I have found this announcement on USA site as of yesterday. It is greatly appreciated."

NBCumv officer: "Yes we are moving it to 2009 so we can air all 16 episodes uninterrupted."

Therefore, there is no explanation about the delay for now, Admin. That's all I can share.

Enaka

Well, it was going to have Thanksgiving off, then shows usually go on hiatus over the holiday season because there's really no good ratings to get during that time anyway. So it probably is for the best and just goes to show how soon the holiday season is approaching. I hope they still air the scheduled marathons.

Lame excuse........and why now with just a week to go? Nobody had a brain and thought of this earlier, before the promos??

makes sense to me, they probably want to give the Goldblum epi's some momentum and they'll give it the best chance by avoiding a hiatus after 2 or three if his epi's

Thank you, Enaka! I called them, and left a message, but I never thought to email them! You are a clever girl! Unfortunately, the answer is not what we want to hear. I am so bummed out.

Hi everyone;
I'm already seeking a safe shelter, daring to suggest that maybe we shouldn't rush to any judgments, before getting enough facts to go with -I know Bobby'd do the same.

The delay might've been a decision of the CI's production team part -the cast & crew- based on their years of experience, the few new epis already filmed, and one important source, they might've been wise enough to attribute in their decisions: Fan Feedback.

On the contrary to the appearances, it might've taken so long to take effect, because there might've been negotiations going on between Mr. Wolf and the USA to convince THEM...

So. as much as you all -so rightfully- await the USA Network's explanation, I'm anxiously awaiting to hear Mr. Wolf, Mr.D'Onofrio, & Ms. Erbe's comments on the subject; before taking any actions, such as not watching the USA -and I mean I AM REALLY, REALLY, REALY ANXIOUS...!! SO, PLEASE SOMEONE ASK THEIR OPINION, SOONER THAN LATER...!!

Here's the USA's eplanation, ginven by the USA Admin, on their forum:

USA Through The Years

Group: Root Admin

This is the explanation given to me, which I have added to the first post...

USA believed that CI's new season was so strong that it would be best presented in an uninterrupted run of 16 episodes. As a strategic move based on the overall TV landscape and in this economy, it made sense to maximize the value of CI by moving to 2009.**

I still pray, that everything will be going smoth, and there's no -God forbid- problems, or health hazards, whatsoever. -Saghy

I'm wondering if they want to put those really good 16 episodes up against 16 first run episodes of some show they want to knock off the air, rather than going up against holiday specials. Also running two or three episodes then having several weeks off for holidays could lose them momentum with new viewers.

Oh and maybe the new episodes have story arcs in them, so interruptions are more problematic

According to the person who called the LOCI production office, all this was news to them, so it's hardly with the blessing of the cast and crew. It appears USA only decided yesterday, possibly due to the fury of everyone over at the USA Board, that it's a 'strong' show. It still sucks!

I'm not sure if TPTB are shrewd or just damn lucky at tap dancing by coming up with this "uninterrupted" excuse.
