NBC has put "The Chopping Block" on... the chopping block.

Scheduling updates released this evening indicate repeats of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" will assume the show's Wednesday, 8:00/7:00c slot effective immediately.

"Block" was the least-watched program on the night for the second week in a row (save for a repeat of The CW's "90210"), posting a series low 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 on Wednesday.

NBC drops ax on 'Chopping Block'
Reality show pulled from sked after three episodes

NBC is pulling cooking competition series "Chopping Block" from primetime after three weeks on the air, sources said.

The network informed affiliates Thursday night that the reality series starring renowned chef Marco Pierre White will be off Wednesday nights as of next week.

"Block" will be replaced with repeats of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." The "CI" episodes are repeats of episodes that have previously aired on NBC...

Have you ever wanted to walk the red carpet, hang with celebrities and see great movies? Well…if your answer is yes, read on for details on a super cool contest and you could be the lucky winner of a trip to Nashville to attend the 40th Anniversary Nashville Film Festival.

Here’s the deal! We are inviting our Twitter followers to help us script the first Southwest Airlines Screenplay. The opening scene and characters are introduced below, and the rest of the story will unfold as each of you tweet the next line in the story, using the #SWAmovie hashtag. Beginning at 10am CT, as the story is told, we will update it on Nuts About Southwest for all to follow. The last line will tweet in at 11am CT, the script will be compiled and our Southwest Airlines Drama Department (no, we don’t actually have a Drama Department, but lots of good dramatic characters who love attention) will act out the script. The movie will world premiere right here on Nuts About Southwest! The scriptwriting will only be allowed between 10am and 11am CT (please read full rules on the pdf. attachment below for more info on how to qualify).

1. Al Pacino on Law & Order: Criminal Intent

Of course, Pacino would have to square off againt Vincent D'Onofrio's Detective Robert Goren. Chris Noth's now retired Mike Logan would be too low key an adversary for the combustible Pacino, and while Jeff Goldblum can be intense and scary and whatnot, we haven't had a chance to see his Detective Zach Nichols in action so we don't really know what he's all about yet. A Pacino/D'Onofrio confrontation would be epic in scope. There'd be quiet dialog moments, wild yelling, probably a bit of crying. It would be riveting, especially if the confrontation occured in an interrogation room. Just four walls, a table, two chairs, and a mirror and Pacino and D'Onofrio. I think the whole TV watching world would shit itself from the intensity, and that's before either one said anything. This needs to happen. It really, really does.

In a lighthearted ceremony, the North Shore Animal League America launched its ninth-annual Tour For Life 2009 on Thursday March 12, from its Port Washington location. Celebrity spokeswoman Kathryn Erbe, from NBC’s Law and Order: Criminal Intent, was there to wish drivers farewell as two Animal League Mobile Adoption Units set off for the west coast to begin their six-week tour of 24 cities across 15 states to help animal shelters and rescues organizations adopt homeless pets.

“As a pet owner and animal lover, this life-saving tour is close to my heart. Adopting from a shelter is the right choice,” says Erbe, whose own “mutt-i-gree”, Lilah, was adopted from North Shore Animal League America.

'Law,' 'Sight' kick off season

USA Network, which led cable in viewership last summer, even besting the CW on some nights, will get this year's summer campaign started early, on Sunday, April 19, pairing the eighth season of police procedural "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" with the second season of the witness-relocation-themed "In Plain Sight."

The NBC U-owned cable channel released its summer original programming slate Tuesday.

Half of "Criminal Intent's" 16-episode season will star Jeff Goldblum, who is being introduced into the series lead role. Incumbent Vincent D'Onofrio will return for the other eight episodes.

LOS ANGELES -- Digital cinema technology is being touted as a way for independent filmmakers to bypass the major studios.

Morristown, N.J.-based Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. said Tuesday it had agreed to distribute up to 15 movies from Olympus Pictures LLC through 2015 at a cost below what studios typically demand.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Olympus agreed to pay for most of the advertising and the cost of digital file transfers, by hard drive or satellite, in exchange for a larger share of the box office gross than is standard industry practice.

.........The first picture to be released under the deal will be "The Narrows," which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival last year. It is expected to be shown in 15 to 20 major U.S. markets in June. Full article.
